Dear RSPB Scotland, you’re putting our jobs at risk

Lisa Woore General News

The NnG Offshore Wind Farm is Scotland’s only major, ready-to-build infrastructure project. The Fraser of Allander Institute says it will bring 2,000 jobs a year during construction and grow Scotland’s economy by £827 million. It will displace 400,000 tonnes of CO2 every year. For 2 ½ years you have single-handedly stopped these benefits coming to Scotland.

After planning consent was granted in 2014 you went to court claiming that proper process had not been followed. Your complaint was thrown out on appeal this year by the highest court in Scotland. You are now taking your complaint to the Supreme Court in London in an attempt to overturn a decision made by Scottish Ministers on the recommendation of their expert advisers.

We respect the work that you do but we strongly believe your actions are not in the interests of Scotland’s environment or our economy. If you choose, you can still work with us, and with the project developers, to reach a pragmatic solution that is in the country’s best interests.

It’s time to drop the case and let us build this project for Scotland, for our communities and for our families. #dropthecase

Yours,
The NnG Coalition
